Rowley Estate Homestead is located in the heart of Marlborough wine country on the outskirts of Blenheim…..away from the crowds but not too far from the action.
The history dates back to 1918 when the original cottage was built on land in Rapaura. In 2003 the cottage was purchased and transported across town to Grovetown where it was parked in the middle of an empty block of land in Rowley Crescent. It was put back together and rebuilt to create the classic homestead it is today. In 2017 the new owner (Claire) undertook an interior refurbishment to breathe new life into the tired homestead. With design skills and fresh eyes, the renovation was completed in sympathy with the heritage architecture + a contemporary twist to create a stylish country home and luxury guest accommodation.
Rowley Estate Homestead is a home away from home, casual luxury, hosted accommodation. A place to escape the noise of the world and exhale.
From Claire
I discovered Marlborough in February 2017 when I flew into Blenheim to view a lifestyle property that caught my eye on line a few days earlier. For several years I’d been seeking a unique property in a special location that could be developed into luxury accommodation as well as a long term home for myself.
Rowley Homestead was an unexpected find and the first viewing was completely a ‘yes’ moment. The homestead property was special and perfect for what I had envisioned, and it presented all the key attributes too; peace, privacy, location, views and a large historic homestead in need of some TLC. It was timely to combine past careers in hospitality and 17 years as an interior designer to create stylish accommodation where service and life’s simple pleasures are a priority.
It was evident too that there was much on offer in Marlborough, both from a tourism perspective and as a new resident. The region resonates with a personal interest in food, wine, gardening, and horticulture, not to mention the picturesque scenery and adventure tourism on the door step and locals who are just friendly, genuine folk.
I look forward to welcoming guests to my country house here in the beautiful region of Marlborough.
